I am writing to urge you to oppose HB 1744, which would expand voucher-style programs in New Hampshire by opting into a federal tax credit scheme for donations to state-designated scholarship organizations. Our state does not need further voucher expansion—especially through a program that lacks meaningful accountability to taxpayers or the state. The scholarship organization currently contracted by the state operates with little oversight, raising serious concerns about transparency, fiscal responsibility, and the diversion of public resources away from our public schools. HB 1744 risks undermining public education without adequate safeguards and should not move forward.
