Wow- I cannot adequately describe how bad this bill is. Register EVERY BIKE? For 50 bucks a bike? Even if you're just passing through NH on a bike trip? Or your kid is riding their bike around the hotel while you are on a family vacation somewhere? How would out-of-staters even know about that? And for what? Of all the things that cost NH meaningful amounts of money, bikes aren't one of them. What this bill would do is keep me from visiting NH. I'm not gonna register my bikes or put NH stickers on them and I don't need one more piece of paper (for each bike!) to carry in my wallet. That would make me sad, because I bike in (and spend money in) NH quite a bit, but, for me, biking brings a real sense of freedom and having to register that freedom with NH for no reasonable purpose is absurd. Throw this bill into the trash heap where it belongs. If you want to register bikes with motors, or scooters or similar powered vehicles, for safety-related reasons, that makes sense but registering pedal bikes is ludicrous.
