Honorable Committee Members, I urge you to OPPOSE HB 1560, which seeks to reinstate the annual vehicle inspection requirement that was just eliminated. The legislature passed a bill in 2025 to end mandatory annual inspections, which takes effect on January 31st. This decision should stand because: - Annual inspections placed an unnecessary financial burden on working families, costing $50-100+ per vehicle annually with no proven safety benefits - States without mandatory inspections do not have higher vehicle-related accident rates than states with inspections - The system created bureaucratic hassle and long wait times while generating revenue at taxpayers expense - Modern vehicles have built-in safety monitoring systems that make annual inspections redundant - New Hampshire families should not be burdened with a program that studies have shown to be ineffective at improving road safety Reinstating this requirement would add costs and inconvenience to families already dealing with high inflation, without any demonstrated safety improvement. Please OPPOSE HB 1560 and allow the elimination of annual vehicle inspections to stand. Respectfully, Julie Babb Antrim, NH
