I grew up going to beaches in Rye and along the NH seacoast. While attending UNH in Durham, I found going to the beach before or after class or on weekends to surf and hang out with friends a cheap and fulfilling alternative to drinking and party culture. I especially appreciated not having to worry about the cost of parking in addition to gas if I could find a nice close spot on the road to park and carry my board from. I would not be a good granite stater if I sat idly back and let the state and town of Rye start putting up financial barriers to others wanting to enjoy the same activities I got to. I won’t sit back and let the state put profits over the well-being of their people.
