I am writing in support of HB 1420-FN, the Lift Our Communities Advertise Locally Act. Local newspapers play a vital role in our communities by reporting on town government, schools, public safety, and local events—coverage that no national media outlet provides. Small businesses also rely on effective local advertising to reach their customers. This bill encourages investment in local economies by supporting small businesses that choose to advertise with local media. It is a practical, targeted, and temporary approach that benefits communities across New Hampshire. Although there are many ways to promote on social media, many people do not have social media as an outlet. Promoting your business via newspapers and radio stations, for example, gives you a wider range to get business. I respectfully urge the committee to support this bill.
