The notion that marriage is strictly between a man and a woman is as outdated a modality as banning interracial marriage. Love is love, and you cannot deny that gay people exist and should have equal access to the same benefits heterosexual people already enjoy. The only basis for denying it is rooted in religion, which is a clear violation of the separation of church and state and, if marriage is a religious construct, then you're denying people the freedom of religion by not allowing it. Enshrining marriage equality in our constitution is a way to protect it should the Supreme Court decide to overturn marriage equality. Do the right thing, be on the right side of history.
