The current rate of suicide in young people is taking lives far too soon. Changing this policy to loosen the requirements for suicide prevention is not something that we should be looking into right now. In fact, we should be enhancing and strengthen our program. There are far too many lives, especially young lives, lost to suicide. As someone who has personally been affected by suicide and lost friends at a young age, I can speak from experience that If those involved in the education system can identify the signs early and take a proactive approach to help intervene, that is an incredible opportunity to save lives and prevent unnecessary death.
