I was at the first ever civil union in the state of New Hampshire before marriage equality and we were some of the first for them in the nation. As a LGBT woman born and raised in New Hampshire, it was always a point of pride that my state cared about and supported people like me. To be the first state in the nation to fully enshrine this in our state's constitution is something I fully support. It gives families in New Hampshire a bit more comfort that there won't be any confusion if something happens at the federal level, their rights will be protected where they live. I'd like to know that my right to marry whoever I choose will always be protected here. In a time where rights are being rolled back everywhere and New Hampshire leaders have been making national news for more bigoted views, let's change the narrative! Let New Hampshire stand on the side of love. Let us lead the nation!
