With the federal government in turmoil, it is even more important now for the states to make their rights and the rights of their citizens known and protected. Any rights we want to have on a state level must be enshrined at a state level. The right to marriage is one near and dear to my heart because the love of my life just happens to have the same gender as me. We are your average couple; we share dreams and support each other's goals, we care for each other when we are sick, we cherish time with our family and friends, we get grumpy after long days, and we deeply, deeply love each other through all the phases of our lives. We go back and forth on getting legally married because we aren't sure what the current administration will do with that information in the future and if that will put us in danger, just for wanting what everyone else wants. This step to protect ordinary couples like us who just want to grow old together really makes a difference. Please give our love the protection of the law.
