Just as with accountability in financial commitments for HB 1570, so too there must be accountability to the people of New Hampshire regarding who is being detained and why in our state. Oversight of this is necessary as we see the lack of it at the federal level in the current climate of ICE raids in our nation. New Hampshire has an obligation to uphold the laws and moral standards of our state and the Constitution of our nation. This law provides necessary transparency in order to assure the citizens of NH that detention of individuals for civil immigration violations are legitimate. Pass this bill.
