I oppose HB 1827. While framed as targeted aid, this bill relies on discretionary grants instead of fixing the underlying problem — the state’s failure to adequately and equitably fund public education. Adequacy should not depend on temporary grants or legislative favor; it should be guaranteed through a fair, predictable funding formula that does not continue to shift costs onto local property taxpayers.
