Dr. Jerold Theis

This Bill is without any merit as it fails to consider that many areas are too small to provide year round conditions for wildlife to remain on the property BUT these properties can well serve as corridors for wildlife to move from one habitat to another and as such can impede wildlife from accessing habit that will support their survival as seasons change. Deer yards for example supply animals with shelter and food but are often not contiguous with each other thus requiring wild life to cross land that is not supportive at various seasons. Blocking these corridors with development essentially prohibits wildlife from reaching habitat where they can survive. This necessity to move throughout the year applies to turtles, foxes, coyotes, turkeys, moose, bobcats, porcupines. If these migratory species are forced to cross roads to move from one habitat to another it increases the risk to their survival and where large animals are concerned risk to drivers, particularly at night when much of this movement takes place. Any House or Senate member who votes for this Bill should be voted out of office when they come up for re-election.
