As a citizen of the great state of New Hampshire, I strongly urge the legislature to push for transparency in all that is happening with the immigrants who live here and contribute to our community. HB1822 provides much-needed transparency by requiring semi-annual reporting regarding the number of people detained for civil immigration violations by any state, county, or local law enforcement or correctional facility. It is critical that we all have access to this information to make sure that we are not allowing inappropriate actions towards people who have come here to be safe.
