I oppose New Hampshire House Bill 1542 (HB1542). It is clear that the bill is specifically designed to gut the Renewable Portfolio Standard system (RPS). It is argued that the bill will save the State money by lowering electricity costs. While that may be true, the savings forecast (hundreds of thousands of dollars) are a drop in the bucket when compared to the overall State budget of approximately $15.9B. If the savings were even as much as $500K, the savings amounts to about 0.03%. That’s right – three-hundredths of a percent! The real goal of course is to eliminate funding for renewable energy-related positions and programs within state agencies. Please do not let this bill advance.
