I oppose HB 1413-FN. Reinstating the death penalty for capital murder does not deter violent crime and comes at an extraordinary financial cost due to complex trials and decades of appeals. Life imprisonment without parole already ensures public safety and accountability while preserving the ability to correct judicial error. Imposing capital punishment is a step backward for New Hampshire’s justice system.
