I write to seize the day to affirm the highest priority and imperative of our state, to declare this truth being of utmost importance to every New Hampshire citizen: To pass Bill HB1799, thereby to plan, coordinate and assure adequate quality public education statewide with complete fairness, trust and confidence and accountability. The well being, essence and foundation of all New Hampshire's future community, must be the purpose and commitment of this comprehensive Bill HB1799, With steadfast good will and good faith, and Bill HB1799, New Hampshire public education can and must become the pride and joy of every student, every parent and every neighborhood. Without any reservation, I support Bill HB1799, in particular section 4, the new provision for “Statewide Oversight to Identify and Address Persistent Disparities in Achievement" and section 7, the "Adequate Education Funding Commission”. In addition, I support the changes the Statewide Property Tax (SWEPT) to require the collecting municipalities to pay all revenue received to the department of revenue administration for deposit in the education trust fund. My daughter who graduated from Conval, now a public school teacher of AP statistics, currently on her teachers' union budget committee, approved my support of this Education Funding bill, from San Jose, California. To sum up, for New Hampshire citizens, for the next decade and generations, the most profound, social and financial challenge of our lives and our time, remains without question the adequate quality education of New Hampshire children and youth. Our New Hampshire House representatives certainly have the courage and fortitude to take a stand for children and youth. Please take action to pass Bill HB1799.
