Thank you for reading my remarks. I write as a state representative for the nine communities of Sullivan District 8, as a homeowner who invested in solar power at least a decade ago and as a very concerned citizen. I oppose this bill as it raises taxes, strips valued local control and penalizes clean energy when we should be promoting and incentivizing it. Why would we create barriers for households and small businesses to invest their hard-earned resources for a cleaner environment and future significant cost savings? The current option for municipalities to exempt solar systems from local property taxes costs the state nothing. I urge you to recognize that this should remain local decision making and ITL this bill. Respectfully, Rep. Hope Damon
