SUSAN GOODWIN | Support HB1540

To Members of the Housing Committee Please support HB 1540 Each town should be able to decide for themselves whether to allow ADUSs in the shoreline district. When our lakes are so threatened by cyanobacteria blooms and polluted run-off, to automatically allow more development along the shoreline seems foolhardy. We all know that more building along our shores will mean more land-clearing, more impervious surfaces and therefore more runoff which will increase phosphorus in our waterbodies and lead to more algal blooms. Each town should have the right to protect their shorelines and do what’s best to preserve water quality. Please vote in support of restoring the decision-making process on ADUs to municipalities.
