I am in support of HB1799. We must support our state’s public school funding system to comply with the two new court rulings handed down in 2025 in the ConVal and Rand cases. We need to properly fund our school districts through the state budget process so that school districts can meet this minimum level of our state-level constitutional school funding obligation as in the HB 1799 formula. We need to ensure enough funding to provide every child with the opportunity for a constitutionally adequate education while also enabling significant, constitutionally mandated local property tax relief across the state. As a property tax payer in this state for over 40 years, as a teacher in this state for over 40 years, and as a parent, I know that this support is only for the minimum help that our students need. Everyone does better when everyone does better, and our entire state of New Hampshire will do better if our students are properly educated with schools that have the necessary funds for heat, maintenance, materials, guidance counselors, etc. We need an educated population to keep NH a state that works well and is good for us all to live in.
