I shouldn't need to testify for this again. The way we have forgotten in just 7 years, the importance of suicide prevention training. The way it is clear that my brother, Alec's, life has been forgotten, simply because my tragedy didn't touch you, in the state. Thankfully, hopefully, you don't have to know what this feels like, but removing this bill increases the risk that you will, and that is an unfortunate risk to hear you are okay taking. Suicide is one of the leading causes of death in teenagers and they are required to be in school, which takes the majority of their waking hours. To not have responsible adults that know how to handle when a student comes to them and says, "I am scared that I am going to hurt myself", or even responsible adults feels safe enough for students to do that, should. be a requirement for teaching in schools. Where there have only been more cuts in funding for mental health, why remove this bare minimum training that could literally save countless lives?
