It appears that some NH legislators are trying to undo the will of the people who worked with legislators seven years ago to repeal the death penalty. In 2019 the death penalty was repealed by a bi-partisan majority of two-thirds of the House. I have yet to hear any good reason why we should repeal the death penalty, but have heard many reasons not to. I’d like to share just 2 of those reasons • The death penalty, which does not lower the homicide rate, is a final solution which has taken the lives many innocent individuals who have been exonerate after their death. • The death penalty is strongly against the morals of both non-religious people and people of many religious faiths including Protestants, Catholics and those of the Jewish faith. The New Hampshire Council of Churches and the Roman Catholic Diocese of Manchester both worked in 2019 to repeal the death penalty, as did the late Rep. Renny Cushing, who lost his father and brother-in-law to murder. I beg you to support constituents and oppose HB 1413
