Last year when HB 589 was submitted to ban wildlife killing contests in NH, hundreds of public comments were ignored entirely by the committee. HB 1114, if passed, would hold NH lawmakers accountable to all citizens by requiring you to acknowledge, and report responses to, public comments. You should be obliged to write a report explaining how the submitted public comments influenced your recommendations on each bill. The public should not be ignored which I think a large number of legislators appear to be doing. The bedrock of our democracy is transparency and the Right to Know laws in New Hampshire should apply not just to local towns but to all members of the NH legislature. Please vote in support of HB 1114 and show that you care about our democracy and the will of our people in New Hampshire.
