I oppose this bill because hunting and firearms are not part of every family’s traditions and should not be forced upon their children. In fact, less than 100,000 people hunt annually in the state and even far less for trappers. Why should every student be mandated to be taught about something their family may be inherently opposed to? What happened to parents’ rights? Then there could also be friction between the pro and the con students regarding hunting and firearms. Just leave this alone. Let families teach their own children about these topics if they so desire. Don’t force children to learn about a fading tradition that is questionable regarding animal cruelty and also very divisive.
