I oppose this poorly thought out lowering of standards for our police. It is not like the fitness standards are unreasonable. Out of shape cops present a risk to themselves, their fellow officers, and the public they serve. We have small departments and officers and troopers ride alone. A second responding unit can be 15 minutes or more away in some parts of the state. Physical fitness and good decision making based upon their training are one a the few things a solo officer has available before he/she employs lethal or less lethal weapons. Most towns have no budget flex for carrying dead weight. Mine doesn't even have the budget for a police department and is covered by Troop F. Finally, out of shape cops are an embarrassment to their profession and their town. Please recommend ITL.
