I strongly support this proposed constitutional amendment to guarantee marriage equality. The US Supreme Court has shown a proclivity to throw out court precedents, such as when they overruled Roe v. Wade. In fact, in his concurring decision in that case, Justice Thomas called for the reconsideration of the Obergefell case, which established a constitutional right to same-sex marriage. Therefore, NH would be prudent to clearly establish marriage equality in the NH constitution. The process for amending the state constitution would confirm that marriage equality does have very broad support among the residents of the state. I also think it safe to say that opposition to this proposed amendment can only be interpreted as hostility to same-sex marriage.
