HB1789-FN shifts the responsibility for excess packaging to producers. Encouraging and supporting producers to rethink and redesign their packaging can benefit businesses (less packaging means lower product and shipping costs), consumers (less packaging means lower health risks and cleaner environments), municipalities (less solid waste to manage), and the state (less litter helps support tourism).
