As someone who worked in education for over 10 years, I have sadly personally seen the need for suicide prevention awareness when it was not there and have been thankful to have this policy in place knowing it has definitively helped myself and others I've worked alongside notice the signs earlier and, being made aware of the proper steps to help, seen staff get those students the professional guidance they needed. Educators spend more daytime hours with school age kids than parents. If you proceed with this bill, any child from any family could be in danger of a trusted adult in their life not seeing the signs in time ... and all it takes is just one adult to know and see the signs.
