This state needs to support and assist those not for profit organizations which have charitable.outreach. organizations like the Masons have threats against their survival as organizations. These buildings need to beaintained.and.run like a business, however with their only income generated though Lodge fundraising. After raising these funds and spending as efficiently to maintain and run the Lodges, only after they finish this can they take the remaining funds to do charitable work. Taxes on the buildings and land take away from these works. Each organization does a little and each time one is forced to close or consolidate with another local organization the communities they serve are impacted. It is only after they are gone do communities realize the impact these organization have in their communities. Food panties, local school scholarships, historical societies and organizations like the NH Veterans Home and local community welfare departments all benefit from local charities. Real estate taxes are important to town survival, but taxing these not for profits in the end hurts the very people who make a community great.
