I am a member of Morning Star Lodge # 17 in Wolfeboro, New Hampshire, as well as an affiliate member of St. John’s Lodge in Portsmouth, New Hampshire. I am in favor of this legislation. The tax bill, due every year, provides significant hardship to my Blue Lodge in Wolfeboro. I understand that we are classified as an Fraternal organization, but we essentially operate as a nonprofit. Money that is taken in is spent in many altruistic means, such as local scholarships for graduating high school students, to fuel assistance for community members in need. The money that is being paid in our tax bill is better served to be spent in an hour local community.
