I strongly oppose HB 1002 because it undermines local control and compromises smart, community-driven energy policy. Municipalities are not required to exempt residential solar from property taxes—those exemptions are voluntary decisions made by towns because they clearly benefit residents and local economies. These policies encourage investment in clean, locally produced energy, help families manage long-term energy costs, support local solar installers and small businesses, reduce strain on the electric grid, and advance locally chosen climate and resilience goals. Repealing this law would directly harm homeowners, weaken communities, and set back New Hampshire’s clean energy economy.
