We have owned our solar array providing us electricity for 12 years. We want others to be able to do the same, providing energy from the sun instead of from fossil fuels. Our town made the decision to exempt solar systems in our town of Madison NH. Local solar property tax exemptions are a choice made by the municipalities, not a mandate. I urge you keep that policy in place so we can continue to improve drawing our power from the sun resulting in less air pollution and keeping down electric prices for "all" people. For the future of our planet, we must: • Encourage residents to invest in clean, locally produced energy; • Help stabilize long-term household energy costs; • Support local installers and small businesses; • Reduce strain on the electric grid; and • Align with local climate, resilience and energy goals Fossil fuel energy sources get tax breaks all along their production chain, and so this is just giving solar parity with fossil fuels.
