I support HB1609 because I do not want state, county, or municipal funds to be used for the purpose of building or renovating facilities to be used as ICE Detention Centers. I do not support the lack of due process of law, the cruel and indiscriminate treatment of both immigrants and US Citizens by ICE officers, and the disregard for civil rights of people in this country. I am outraged by what is happening and how the use of ICE forces keeps expanding way beyond the original purposes that were stated. This is out of control and needs to be harnessed. Not supplying the funds for detention centers is one way to reign in the buildup of actions by ICE.
