Hello there, my name is Rebecca Barrett. I grew up in Southern NH. I am no longer a resident, but run a 3rd generation Family business in Londonderry, NH and am closely tied to the community. I do not agree with the tactics that Ice is using. They endanger the communities they overwhelm and are terrorizing too many innocent citizens and immigrants (documented or not.) We should be offering better processes for undocumented folks and certainly not punishing those who show up to court. I do not agree with the funding that has gone toward any of the new strategies and certainly not to the detention centers known to violate human rights on a number of levels. NH has a chance to stand up for what live free or die means here. Funding this federal charade would be among other things, quite ironic. Most of all, I do not want my children or any children in our community to witness and be traumatized by someone they love, a friend or even a stranger being dragged off by masked men.
