To the Members of the Committee, I am writing in strong support of HB1609. In my opinion, ICE has shown a pattern of cruel treatment toward immigrants, racial profiling, and abuse of power. We have seen cases where U.S. citizens have been wrongfully questioned, detained, or targeted because of how they look or where their family comes from. That should never happen in a country that claims to value freedom and equal rights. New Hampshire should not be financially supporting a system that causes this kind of harm. HB1609 is a reasonable step to protect our communities and ensure our public money is used responsibly. Respectfully,
