As someone who works in education and is the parent of teenagers, including a college student, I am very aware of the dangers of weapons, especially in a environment, that can be stressful ( consider exams and grades) and in an environment where many of the people are legal adults whose brains are still developing. Universities have town and university police to protect them. There is no need for other arms. Furthermore, imagine how distracting it would be for other students. Because one can own a weapon does not mean one best serves oneself or others by carrying it all the time.
