I am writing in strong support of HB 1584, which would require the New Hampshire Department of Health to include the statement, “Medical and religious exemptions are available under New Hampshire law,” in any communication or notice promoting vaccination. This bill represents a balanced and transparent approach to public health messaging. Including this information ensures that New Hampshire residents are clearly informed of their rights under existing state law. This promotes trust, autonomy, and accountability within our Department of Health. Clear and complete communication helps residents make informed medical decisions for themselves and their families while reinforcing that the state respects both scientific guidance and individual freedoms. HB 1584 does not discourage vaccination. Rather, it strengthens confidence in public health efforts by showing that New Hampshire values honesty and personal choice. By passing this bill, the legislature recognizes that informed consent and individual medical and religious choices are fundamental to sound governance.
