Bill Cote

As a resident of Durham and a graduate of UNH, I vehemently oppose this bill for personal and professional reasons. Countless studies have shown that firearms in untrained hands will not stop a threat due to reaction times and chances of accidental discharge of a firearm are greatly increased. USNH has responded with a very detailed, accurate opposition to this legislation. In my career in risk management and safety training, I participated in live "Simunitions" training for law enforcement for several years. We noted many highly trained officers who first took cover to assess a threat and also noted some officers who failed miserably and were ,for the sake of the training, "killed. No student, faculty, staff or other USNH employee who, under this bill, choose to carry a firearm will ever properly confront a shooter as they have the upper hand. Lastly, we must take Article 2 of the US Constitution in its entirety. Does HB 1793 propose forming a well regulated militia?
