I do not want guns on college campuses. Institutions of higher education should be places of learning, safety, and open exchange—not environments where students, faculty, and staff must worry about the presence of weapons in classrooms, dormitories, or campus events. Local colleges and universities are best positioned to determine what policies keep their communities safe. Removing their authority to regulate weapons undermines campus safety efforts and disregards the concerns of students, parents, educators, and campus law enforcement professionals. I respectfully urge you to oppose any legislation that would force campuses to allow firearms or weapons against their judgment. Public safety and the well-being of our students should remain the top priority.
