The communities of UNH and of Durham will be seriously at risk if this bill passes. The ability of UNH to attract students will be greatly hampered further impacting a university whose budget has been brutally cut by the state. Will those supporting this bill also support salary increases as hazard pay for working in a dangerous environment for all UNH employees? The anxieties, concerns, stress-level and mental health of UNH students, already precarious, would not be improved by other students and their professors having guns. The brains of human beings of the age of college students often lead students to impulsive decision-making. Add the usual college experimentation to the mix and people will die. Bad decisions will be made. Not to mention disgruntled employees who are continuously being asked to do more with less, whose salaries do not even keep up with cost of living increases. This bill must not pass.
