LINDA ENGSTRAND

This bill would significantly restrict access to civil protection, increase danger for victims, and undermine decades of progress made to strengthen domestic violence policy in our state. HB1740 puts victims in danger by cutting funding for crisis centers and vital survivor services, making it harder to get a protective order by requiring there to be criminal charges before someone can get protection, creating more court delays, costs, and barriers for victims, and weakening victim privacy and emergency protections when danger is highest.
