I oppose this bill. My religious belief is that all people are redeemable. Killing someone, even if they have killed someone else or done irreparable harm requires punishment - but if we kill them in return, we harm our collective society. On the practical side, it is proven that the death penalty does not deter crime or murder. People who do such heinous crimes never believe they will be caught. This bill will not make anyone more safe. Also, having people on death row incurs MORE cost for the state in legal fees than keeping them in prison for life.
