I am a parent of two that are about to enter into the public school. A group of us parents approached the school board, teachers, principal, and superintendent of the elementary school in order to make sure there was enough outdoor time and recess to help reduce stress in these crazy times. We were steamrolled by the leadership who claimed they were handcuffed by policies that force a priority of scores above emotional wellbeing. I was shocked to learn that the middle schoolers have 8 weeks of gym and no recess in the entire year. How are children supposed to learn without regular physical outlets? As of right now, our group is pursuing other options for schooling. That’s 20 kids not going to public school. That’s 20 students taking money away from our public school. That’s 20 highly involved parents not involved in the public school. We need your help, please! Thank you for your time.
