The death penalty does not deter violent crime. There is the possibility of wrongful convictions: the death penalty cannot be reversed. The death penalty makes the executioner him/herself a killer. The death penalty is morally wrong. Death penalty is state-sanctioned murder. It does not rehabilitate - it is just for vengeance. A life sentence without parole is a more appropriate and far worse punishment.
