As a first time parent of a toddler I support this bill and have hopes of it being implemented, before my child reaches public school education. A year ago through Say Yes To Recess NH, I was shocked to learn about the lack of requirement for minimum amount of recess time for children. Children NEED to be outside. Science and research has proved the importance of play and being outdoors- not just for children, but for everyone. Think about how you as an adult feel after you get some sun, or take a brisk walk? Often you feel calmer, confident, focused, and energized. Its the same for children too. I am specifically concerned about this issue because I am foreseeing my spunky toddler, NEEDING that recess time in his public education journey. Already, I can tell my toddler needs to move his body in order to regulate and to learn. It saddens me to know that adults already don't get enough movement in their day, or outdoor time, and now we are passing along these habits to the next generation. By passing this bill, it is a prevention tool, thus saving money in the long run. Think about the children in your lives, and how the benefits of this bill will help support them in being better learners. Think of all the life-long habits, interests, connections and friendships recess creates for children. As a NH resident and parent, I strongly request and urge your support in this bill
