Cyanobacteria is one of the largest threats to fresh water in the world. The effects are many. Their tosinx can kill fish directly. Cyanobacteria exposure can sicken humans, pets, and wildlife. Cyanobacteria has gained national and international attention as it has imperiled drinking water. Additionally cyanobacteria can cause significant disease to humans and wildlife. Lakes are labeled "toxic" and cannot be used for recreational purposes. New Hampshire relies on our "tourist" industry and being unable to access and enjoy our beautiful lakes destroys that. Lake Winnipesaukee has had "blooms" that covered the entire lake. Friends say they have rented there for years in the summer, but now refuse as the lake has become a danger rather than a source of joy. New Hampshire needs to be part of the solution and study this threat and work towards mitigation. Please support BH 1301 to help increase funding for this vital project. Thanks for listening.
