I support this bill because New Hampshire’s lakes are valuable public resources that attract vacationers and new residents, fueling economic growth that supports our local businesses, schools, and communities. As we attract new residents, we also strengthen the workforce that allows both small and large businesses to thrive and grow. Raising the annual mooring fee from $25 to $50 is a modest, reasonable move to generate the estimated $80,000 per year to help protect water quality, and would be contributed by people who enjoy our lakes the most. This targeted investment helps ensure our lakes remain clean, safe, and economically vital for current and future generations.
