My wife and I support HB 1301 which provides a funding source for the Cyanobacteria Mitigation Loan and Grant Fund from increased mooring fees. We live on Silver Lake in Madison which experienced its first toxic Cyanobacteria bloom in September, 2023. In our case, torrential rains which washed nitrogen and phosphorus from fertilizers into the lake were followed by unseasonably warm weather creating conditions for the bloom. Extreme weather conditions are increasing as is home construction in the hills along State Highway 113 between Madison corner and Albany with the associated removal of trees and shrubs to create views. Erosion and runoff in the watershed will increase. Please support the bill to provide resources to deal with cyanobacteria and keep our NH lakes healthy and pristine.
