Cheryl Perkins

I have worked as a paraprofessional in New Hampshire public schools for 27 years, supporting students from Pre-k to sixth grade. I am also a grandparent of children in New Hampshire public schools. From my day-to-day experience in schools, I see how hard it is for many students to stay focused and regulated throughout the school day. When children have time for unstructured play, I see clear improvements in their behavior and ability to learn. Recess gives kids a chance to move, take a mental break, interact with their peers, and come back to class calmer and more ready to pay attention. Based on nearly three decades of working directly with NH's students, I strongly support HB 1507.
