Please support this bill to reduce pesticide runoff into lakes and streams by limiting neonicotinoid use to trained applicators and eliminating of the ways they are applied. It has been known for years that these types of pesticides can cause great harm to water resources, and the entire food chain. The Neonicotinoids leach into soil, groundwater, and runoff water, disrupting aquatic food webs by harming insects and zooplankton, and creating conditions that favor algal and harmful cyanobacteria blooms. The bill would also protect pollinators and wildlife while promoting safer, more sustainable pest management practices across the state. For those of us who care about NH lakes, this bill is an extremely important step in their protection.
