Cyanobacteria is found in most lakes to some degree. It becomes problematic and even toxic in some cases when it blooms near the surface. This can force beach closures and influence the economy of the lake regions that so many of us depend on. Unfortunately global warming is causing this to happen more frequently. Other causes though, are more easily controlled, like excess nutrient loading, reduction in zooplankton and insects that feed on the cyanobacteria and salt runoff. This bill could help fund some of these controls, taking steps toward reversing this huge problem. I urge you to support this bill.
